About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Reporting Senior Analyst to join our Institutional Retirement Solutions (IRS) finance team at Securian Financial Group. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in designing and implementing accounting solutions for new products, preparing financial statements, and ensuring timely and accurate processing.

Responsibilities
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare monthly financial statements and reporting, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Accounting Transactions: Prepare journal entries and ensure the accuracy of accounting transactions processed.
  • Financial Analysis: Perform analysis to understand key trends and variances driving financial results.
  • Procedure Development: Develop and document procedures to ensure accuracy of accounting.
  • Financial Reporting Support: Support the preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, insurance agencies, and company leaders.
  • Project Participation: Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts.
  • Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for and lead implementation of process improvements.
Qualifications
  • Accounting Experience: Accounting experience with exposure to statutory, management-based, tax, and GAAP for financial reporting and budgeting.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree (preferably in Accounting, Finance, or Math).
  • Initiative and Communication: Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects. Written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners.
  • Analytical Skills: Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports.
  • Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail.
  • Multi-Tasking: Ability to effectively multi-task and meet prescribed deadlines on a continuous basis.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Insurance Accounting Knowledge: Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts and products.
  • Reinsurance Accounting Experience: Reinsurance accounting experience.
