Job Overview

The role of the Food Service Operations Manager encompasses a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of restaurant operations. The following tasks are essential:

  • Capability to lift and transport items weighing up to 55 pounds.
  • Ability to reach for and handle items positioned as high as 6 feet and as low as 6 inches from the ground.
  • Proficient use of kitchen equipment and tools, including sheeter machines, spatulas, pizza cutters, various knives, can openers, pastry brushes, scales, microwaves, telephones, and cash registers.
  • Skill in applying necessary pressure to cut through food products and maintain cleanliness of equipment and utensils.
  • Competence in counting, sorting, and weighing diverse food products and inventory items.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers and team members (reading, speaking, listening, writing, etc.).
  • Understanding of directions, instructions, and product specifications.
  • Ability to process and fulfill customer orders accurately.
  • Comprehension of training materials and adherence to standard operating procedures.
  • Successful completion of required training programs for certification.
  • Mathematical skills to calculate sales totals, percentages, inventory usage, food orders, employee schedules, cash handling results, and projected business needs.
  • Supervisory skills to manage multiple team members simultaneously and motivate them to achieve goals and meet deadlines.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should possess:

  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a managerial capacity, having attained at least an assistant manager or co-manager role in a quick-service restaurant, or one (1) year of experience in a management position within a full-service restaurant.
  • A preferred minimum age of 21.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with basic mathematical skills.
  • A solid understanding of local marketing strategies, sales enhancement techniques, and a proven ability to manage costs effectively.
  • Strong leadership, team-building, and communication abilities.
  • Knowledge of how to interpret and analyze profit and loss statements.
  • Dependability, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work a varied 50-hour workweek in high-pressure situations.
