Your Contribution to the Team

Position Overview:

At UCI Health, we pride ourselves on fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment. As a vital member of our team, you will report directly to the Ultrasound Supervisor and be responsible for conducting a comprehensive range of non-invasive vascular examinations. Your expertise will extend to performing general ultrasound procedures as required. You will utilize advanced imaging techniques, including M-mode, 2D imaging, color Doppler, pulsed Doppler, and continuous-wave Doppler, to accurately assess and document findings.

In this role, you will prepare and position patients effectively, adjust imaging equipment for optimal results, and operate both stationary and portable ultrasound systems. You may also rotate through various departments within the medical center. Participation in holiday rotations is expected. Additionally, you will play a key role in mentoring and training fellow technologists, residents, and students as assigned.

Key Responsibilities:

The following essential functions outline your responsibilities, though they are not exhaustive:
  • RAD - Monitor patients and diagnostic equipment, making necessary adjustments to ensure high-quality imaging results (20%)
  • RAD - Perform routine and complex ultrasound procedures in accordance with established protocols or physician directives (20%)
  • RAD - Manage patient positioning and safety during procedures, ensuring a sterile environment and appropriate PPE (20%)
  • CLIN - Provide theoretical and practical instruction to resident physicians and ultrasound students (20%)
  • CLIN - Ensure accurate processing and archiving of images, updating patient records in the RIS/EMR systems (20%)
Qualifications for Success

Required Qualifications:
  • Certification as a Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • A.R.D.M.S. certification is mandatory
  • Two years of college education focused on Allied Health Sciences, preferably in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
  • Experience in both inpatient and outpatient ultrasound examinations
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Proficiency in pediatric ultrasound, including neonatal assessments
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal
  • Current BLS certification
  • Five years of experience as a vascular technologist in a clinical setting
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited vascular or ultrasound program
  • A.R.D.M.S. certification in multiple specialties
