Optical Thin Film Production Manager

We are seeking an experienced Optical Thin Film Production Manager to join our team at MKS Instruments. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for overseeing the manufacturing and development of optical thin film products.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the production team in the manufacturing of optical thin film coatings using various deposition techniques, such as sputtering, ion beam deposition, and thermal evaporation.
- Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer orders and delivery timelines while optimizing resource utilization.
- Monitor production metrics, including yield, cycle time, and throughput, and implement strategies to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure the consistency and reliability of optical thin film products.
- Conduct regular inspections and audits to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Investigate and resolve quality issues through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance product performance, yield, and cost-effectiveness.
- Collaborate with R&D and engineering teams to develop and implement new thin film deposition techniques and technologies.
- Utilize statistical analysis and data-driven approaches to monitor process performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Recruit, train, and mentor production staff to ensure a skilled and motivated workforce.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and performance feedback to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and innovation.
- Promote safety awareness and ensure adherence to workplace safety protocols and regulations.
- Manage projects related to the development, optimization, and scale-up of optical thin film coatings.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams, including engineering, procurement, and quality assurance, to ensure project milestones are achieved on time and within budget.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or related field.
- Proven experience in optical thin film production, including knowledge of deposition techniques and optical coating design principles.
- Experience with FilmStar or thin film design software and thin film deposition equipment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.
- Proficiency in quality management systems and methodologies, such as SPC and ISO standards.
- Strong understanding of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Project management experience, including the ability to prioritize tasks, allocate resources, and manage project timelines effectively.
