About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistive Technology (AT) Specialist to support students with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) and life skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), or Physical Therapy (PT). This position requires experience supporting the identification and implementation of AAC technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support all aspects of Assistive Technology implementation for students and staff to ensure students have the tools they need to access the curriculum.
  • Determine what Assistive Technology is required for each student to successfully access the curriculum and participate in the community.
  • Actively participate in the development of IEP goals and attend meetings to provide expertise on Assistive Technology.
  • Respond to Assistive Technology Evaluation requests from the educational team in a timely and collaborative manner.
  • Help manage materials and create activities for students in the classroom.
  • Assist in identifying appropriate multimodal communication supports and ensure adequate follow-up to support usage across contexts.
  • Participate in professional development activities and collaborate with all key stakeholders involved in the allocation and implementation of Assistive Technology.
  • Completes relevant paperwork within required timelines per federal and state law, district policy, and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a school-based or pediatric setting.
  • Extensive experience with assistive technology is required.
  • Advanced Degree in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), Occupational Therapy (OT), or Physical Therapy (PT) is required.
  • Valid DC clinical license from the District of Columbia's Department of Health.
