Position Summary:
We are looking for a highly qualified and seasoned Electrical Design Engineer to contribute to our projects. This role involves supporting post-award initiatives within the Planning Design and Construction Branch of the Facilities and Engineering and Acquisition Division (FEAD). The successful candidate will oversee various electrical projects, ensuring compliance with contract specifications and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize extensive electrical engineering expertise to uphold contract quality standards.
  • Implement and adhere to all relevant electrical engineering codes, including the National Electric Code (NEC) and Unified Facilities Criteria (UFCs).
  • Conduct site visits to ensure construction aligns with contract requirements, including design and safety standards.
  • Participate in various project meetings to facilitate communication and coordination.
  • Assist in the review and approval of technical and administrative submissions from contractors.
  • Interpret design criteria and collaborate with government representatives.
  • Evaluate project drawings to ensure compliance with engineering standards and applicable regulations.
  • Analyze contract documents to clarify contractor responsibilities.
  • Propose solutions for design discrepancies and issues that arise during construction.
  • Provide technical support for contract interpretation and contractor claims.
  • Conduct field investigations to resolve design changes and interface issues.
  • Oversee equipment and material testing to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Support the preparation and reconciliation of pre-final punch lists.
  • Monitor updates to as-built drawings and ensure timely maintenance.
  • Verify the accuracy of Operation and Maintenance Support Information (OMSI) Manuals.
  • Assist in addressing requests for information (RFI) from contractors.
  • Maintain organized construction contract documentation in accordance with standards.
Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Electrical Engineering from a U.S. jurisdiction.
  • U.S. Passport holder.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a licensed Electrical Engineer in government construction projects.
  • Certification in the National Electric Safety Code (NESC).
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction methods and engineering principles.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and AutoCAD.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in active construction environments.
