Sterling Engineering Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Physical Design Substation Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our electrical engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and developing electrical substation systems, including 13kV-500kV substations, switchyards, and control house layouts.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop electrical substation systems, including substations, switchyards, and control house layouts.
- Conduct grounding analysis and design, switchgear design, conduit and cable design, and creation of bill of materials using AutoCAD/MicroStation drafting software.
- Estimate and assist in the preparation of bid packages.
- Attend scoping meetings as requested for projects.
- Obtain PE license in required states to sign and seal client plans and drawings within one year of employment.
- Complete assignments within budget and schedule with a high degree of accuracy to provide quality deliverables.
- Work overtime as required for customers' needs.
- Mentor other designers/engineers in group to increase knowledge of physical substation design.
- Check/review other personnel work for accuracy/adherence to client/national standards.
- Evaluate, select, and apply engineering principles and practices relevant to project requirements.
- Advanced knowledge of MicroStation.
- At least 5 years of related physical design substation experience.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
- Able to obtain PE license within 6 months of hiring.
