Position Overview:


The Certified Cytology Specialist conducts thorough diagnostic assessments for malignancies and various disease conditions on both gynecological and an extensive range of non-gynecological bodily samples.

This role operates during standard business hours from Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

This position includes a sign-on incentive of $2500 for qualified candidates who fulfill the Certified Cytology Specialist criteria.

Key Responsibilities:
Conducts microscopic examinations of specimens and performs cellular assessments for cancer detection and the identification of other pathological conditions.

Confirms the identification of specimens using the patient's name, accession number, and specimen type on slides and requisitions, ensuring adherence to established protocols for collection, preparation, processing, and evaluation of all specimens submitted for cytological analysis.

Assesses general cellular preparations based on the adequacy of material on slides and ensures that the number of slides examined or reviewed does not exceed the limits established by regulatory standards.

Distinguishes between normal and abnormal cellular elements, identifies both cellular and non-cellular components, and marks areas for further examination.

Conducts evaluations and preparations as per specific requests, provides additional diagnostic interpretations as necessary, evaluates abnormal specimens, and submits findings and specimens to a pathologist for final assessment and reporting to the referring physician.


Essential Qualifications:
ASCP registered
Cytotechnologist certification

Preferred Qualifications:
ThinPrep certification

Physical Demands:
Engage with others requiring verbal communication of information.
Operate computers and intricate lab equipment necessitating dexterity and hand movement.
Read and interpret lab equipment, monitors, and documentation.
Maintain sitting or standing positions for extended periods to perform tasks on a computer or other equipment.
