The Recovery Support Specialist offers a range of focused services to residential clients, all within the parameters of their role. These services encompass general assistance and the development of Wellness Recovery Action Plans. The Recovery Support Specialist is tasked with delivering the highest standard of care to every individual served. This position can be intricate as support personnel must balance diverse interests. For instance, while client advocacy and relationship-building are essential, attention must also be given to the treatment implications of interventions recommended by clinical personnel. This role necessitates strong teamwork abilities, as Recovery Support Specialists collaborate with various teams, including treatment teams and client recovery support staff. The Recovery Support Specialist aids the Residential Program Manager in ensuring top-tier care for all program participants. The primary objectives of this role are to (a) deliver high-quality care for clients, (b) maintain exceptional customer service for funders, clients, and other stakeholders, (c) support clinical and client advocacy staff, and (d) enhance client retention within the residential program.

PEER SUPPORT CERTIFICATION IS REQUIRED TO APPLY

Compensation range: $43,000 - $44,000

Work Hours: Flexible with occasional weekend shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the program manager in overseeing the environment during day and evening hours (may include weekends), including behavior management, client de-escalation, on-call support, and assistance in emergency medical situations.
  • Support clinical staff by being knowledgeable about the core modalities (REBT, MRT, and MI) utilized in programming.
  • Facilitate client engagement in community support groups, sober recreational activities, and community service, including coaching sober sports.
  • Communicate treatment needs identified during wellness recovery planning sessions to clinical and case management teams.
  • Monitor each client's adherence to their program, drug-test results, and group attendance, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Utilize necessary software programs (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Meet organizational expectations for clinical productivity.
  • Attend all relevant employee training sessions and clinical staff meetings.
  • Collaborate and consult with supervisors, treatment-team members, community partners, and other relevant parties regarding clinical matters.

Qualifications:

  • A high school diploma or Associate's Degree and an active license in the State of Utah as a Certified Peer Support Specialist.
  • Education in the Utah State Peer Support Specialist program.
  • Experience in both substance abuse and mental health treatment is preferred.
