Role: Grants Research Specialist

Division: Health Protection Bureau

Number of Positions: 1

Starting Salary: $84,972

This role is accessible to the public and all current City employees who are part of the collective bargaining agreement with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Bargaining Unit 1, 3, 4 & 5. Only employees within City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to the objectives of the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grants.
  • Oversee projects funded by the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop and monitor grant proposals, including performance metrics and implementation timelines, ensuring alignment with funding requirements.
  • Research and identify potential funding opportunities from both public and private sectors.
  • Support data collection and analysis for programs funded by Emergency Preparedness grants.
  • Coordinate project timelines with budget expenditures to ensure alignment.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with funding agencies and organizations.
  • Participate in conferences at various levels regarding program evaluation and funding.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of program documentation for the Public Health Emergency Preparedness grants.
  • Engage in planning during emergencies as part of the Incident Command structure.

Location: Chicago, IL

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a closely related field, along with two years of experience in grants preparation, community outreach, or project management.

Selection Process:

Applicants will undergo an interview process that includes a written exercise and an Excel skills assessment. Candidates will be selected based on their qualifications as demonstrated in both oral and written assessments.

Preference:

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in:

  • Developing program budget reports for compliance with grant-funded initiatives.
  • Preparing reports, budgets, and grant applications.
  • Coordinating and monitoring program implementation within regulatory frameworks.
  • Project management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
