Position Overview:

Grants Research Specialist

Department: Public Health

Number of Positions: 1

Starting Salary: $84,972

This role is available to the public and all current City employees within the designated collective bargaining agreement. Only employees in specific job titles within this agreement are eligible to apply.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the collection and analysis of data related to the performance of grant objectives.
  • Oversee grant-funded projects, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Develop and monitor grant proposals, including performance metrics and compliance with funding regulations.
  • Research and identify potential funding opportunities from various agencies.
  • Support data collection and analysis for emergency preparedness programs.
  • Coordinate project timelines with budget expenditures to ensure alignment.
  • Build and maintain relationships with funding organizations.
  • Participate in conferences related to program evaluation and funding.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of program reports and records.
  • Engage in planning activities during emergencies.

Location: Chicago, IL

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field, along with two years of experience in grants preparation, community outreach, or project management is required.

Selection Process:

Applicants will undergo an interview process that includes a written exercise and an assessment of Excel skills. Candidates will be selected based on their qualifications and performance during the interview.

Preference will be given to candidates with:

  • Experience in developing budget reports for grant compliance.
  • Experience in preparing reports, budgets, and grant applications.
  • Experience in coordinating and monitoring program implementation.
  • Project management experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
