About the Role:

AECOM is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geologist to support our Geo-Civil projects from our San Diego, California office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining long-term relationships with clients in civil infrastructure and mining, providing technical expertise, and supporting business development pursuits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain strong relationships with clients through technical expertise, client meetings, and business development pursuits.
  • Plan, budget, and execute surface and subsurface field geologic and geotechnical exploration, and manage support staff required to execute investigations.
  • Conduct geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.
  • Support the design and installation of groundwater wells and geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Interpret site conditions, including geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data, and prepare geotechnical and geologic reports.
  • Develop geologic models for complex geologic site conditions.
  • Conduct geologic research and develop innovative solutions to advance projects with the latest technologies.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients.
  • Collaborate with geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.
  • Prepare project documentation, including reports, project communications, and design drawings and report figures.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalence of experience and/or education.
  • Professional licensure (PG/CEG/PE) is required.
  • Valid US Drivers License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geological Engineering (Master's preferred).
  • Ideally, 10+ years of experience as a Geologist/Engineering Geologist, including investigations.
  • Experience with complex subsurface investigations, including soil and rock core drilling.
  • Installation of piezometers and geotechnical instrumentation.
  • Willingness to travel regularly for domestic and international projects, conducting physically rigorous field geologic data collection in various terrain and weather conditions.
  • Ability to work on multiple project tasks and meet deadlines with aggressive schedules efficiently, while maintaining attention to detail and work product quality.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills, with written communication skills in the form of geotechnical/geologic data reporting.
  • GIT Certification.
  • Experience with geotechnical projects, including dams, mine tailings dams, and water storage dams.
  • Analytical skills and knowledge of geological and geotechnical software (i.e., RocScience, Geo-Slope, gINT, etc.).
