Job Description:

As a Parts Counterperson at Sonic Automotive, you will play a crucial role in selling parts to customers at retail. Your duties and responsibilities will include assisting walk-in customers in selecting required parts, suggesting companion requirements, and ensuring that the customer is exposed to the full product line.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assist customers in selecting parts, suggest companion requirements, and offer specials.
• Pull purchases from stock and determine availability for emergency orders.
• Answer phone calls, providing price quotes and other information. Assist outside sales representatives with their orders.
• Set up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pick up.
• Verify 'will call' and 'back order' files weekly and return to vendors or stock items not required.
• Solicit assigned accounts by phone.
• Assist service technicians in selecting parts needed for repairs in process.
• Open repair order envelopes for new repair orders.
• Order parts not in stock if determined necessary by Shop Foremen.
• Notify Shop Foremen and customers of received parts.
• Answer parts phones when the front counter is overloaded.
• Ensure that before parts can be charged out, the Technician presents a duplicate copy of the repair order and a parts requisition.
• File requisition copies in repair order envelopes.
• Provide high-level service to customers, both on the phone and in person.
• Issue credit for parts returned, ensuring original invoices or numbers are available.
• Ensure charge back sales are signed by customers.
• Obtain customer information for tax-exempt sales.
• Present customers with white copies of invoices after removing tear strips.
• Replenish assigned inventory daily and advise the Parts Manager of unsatisfactory conditions.
• Keep current on new products and product updates.
• Participate in training programs and maintain a Lost Sale Tracking program.
• Clean computer terminals and printers daily.
• Must be legally and technically able to operate company and customer vehicles.
• Must be insurable by company insurance carrier.
• Must follow company safety policies and procedures, reporting accidents to managers or supervisors.

Qualifications:
• At least 1-3 years of Parts department experience in a dealership.
• Experience with CDK systems.
• Ability to work well with the public, sometimes with several customers at a time.
• Strong work ethic and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to follow directions, willingness to learn, and mentor teammates.
• Respect for teammates and a positive outlook.
• All applicants must be authorized to work in the USA.
• Drivers License and good driving record.
• Ability to pass pre-employment testing, including background checks, MVR, drug test, credit report, and valid driver license.
