Job Title: CCIP Advocate

Job Summary:

The CCIP Advocate will serve as a key member of the Community Crisis Intervention Program (CCIP) team, working to prevent and respond to community violence in Philadelphia. This role requires a strong understanding of the community and its needs, as well as excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with high-risk individuals and groups to prevent violence and promote positive relationships
  • Identify and address potential conflict situations before they escalate
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community residents, businesses, and organizations
  • Conduct outreach and education to promote violence prevention and community safety
  • Document all contacts and interactions with high-risk individuals and groups
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop and implement violence prevention strategies
  • Respond to community crises and provide support to affected individuals and families
  • Attend regular team meetings and participate in ongoing training and professional development

Requirements:

  • A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) is required; pursuit of formal education once hired is strongly encouraged
  • Experience in outreach, violence prevention, or community relations work with a diverse population is strongly preferred
  • Ability to work in crisis and traumatic situations, including gun violence, domestic violence, and gang-related assaults
  • In-depth knowledge of the community, particularly the targeted area
  • Experience working with high-risk populations and their families
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work a late evening and overnight schedule, including weekends and some holidays
  • Committed to working toward positive community change in Philadelphia
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have a good driving record

Working Conditions:

The CCIP Advocate will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, often in high-risk neighborhoods. The ability to work independently and as part of a team is essential. The position requires a strong commitment to community safety and violence prevention.
