Job Summary

We are seeking an Environmental Economist to join our Environmental Planning Group in the West Region. In this role, you will have the opportunity to support National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance, state-level equivalent reviews, and environmental permitting by writing technical assessments of impacts primarily related to the social and economic areas; interfacing with clients and other technical experts; supporting public outreach efforts; and contributing to a positive teamwork-oriented company culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage or contribute to socioeconomic and environmental justice sections for NEPA documents
  • Contribute to forest and natural resource management plans
  • Prepare quantitative and qualitative social and economic impact analysis, including assessment of non-market factors
  • Conduct economic modeling, such as input-output modeling using IMPLAN
  • Interface and effectively coordinate with clients and land management agencies (e.g., Forest Service)
  • Contribute to public outreach and engagement efforts including virtual and in-person socioeconomic workshops, surveys, and interviews
  • Prepare specialist reports, including socioeconomic baseline assessments
  • Assist project managers with all aspects of managing projects from acquisition to completion
  • Contribute to business development, including proposal preparation

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in sociology, economics, or a related field and 4+ years of relevant experience with NEPA Compliance, socioeconomic research and studies or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Preferred qualifications include 5+ years of relevant experience with NEPA compliance; economic modeling; Socioeconomic research or reports; environmental permitting; and technical report writing
  • Masters degree or higher in economics, sociology, or related field (i.e. human geography, anthropology)
