Job Summary

At HDR, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in Denver, Colorado. This individual will lead teams and design projects from start to finish, coordinating with clients, project managers, electrical team members, architects, and other disciplines.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop feasibility reports, construction documents, specifications, engineering calculations, and perform RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, site investigation, and overall construction administration.
  • Mentor, organize, and facilitate the growth of junior staff.
  • Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
  • Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings regarding electrical systems.
  • Assist Marketing and Business Development groups in developing fee proposals and scope of work documents for Electrical and EPMS scopes of work.
  • Assume the electrical lead on data center/mission critical projects.
  • Work with clients to understand their project-specific requirements around reliability, growth increments, first cost versus life cycle costs, sustainability, construction schedules, and future flexibility.
  • Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions in conjunction with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
  • Perform QA/QC review of construction documents, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Design support during construction including field observations, submittal & shop drawing review, Request for Information (RFI) support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Minimum of 10 years of consulting engineering experience in the design of high reliability electrical systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting, and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
  • Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office and AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
  • Previous Data Center/Mission Critical experience in an architectural/engineering, or engineering consulting firm is desired.
  • Bluebeam Revu, SKM Power Tools (or similar power system analysis tools), CYMCAP (or similar programs based on Neher-McGrath and IEC-60287 methods), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Working knowledge of Newforma Project Center and/or ProjectWise Document Management Software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to effectively work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Technical and specification writing skills.
  • NCEES Registration.
