Role Overview:
The Security Specialist II is responsible for delivering security services through professional and positive interactions with the public, patients, staff, and management. Key responsibilities include:
- Responding to various calls and providing assistance in both emergency and non-emergency situations.
- Investigating and documenting safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities both electronically and in writing.
- Patrolling designated areas to ensure the safety of the public, patients, staff, and property.
- Being accountable to the department's chain of command for initiative, judgment, and overall competence in performing assignments and daily duties.
- Actively participating in exceptional customer service and maintaining respectful relationships with all individuals.

Key Contributions:
The Security Specialist II will:
- Exhibit AdventHealth Orlando's service standards through their behavior.
- Proactively patrol assigned areas and perform all security-related tasks, ensuring compliance with life safety standards.
- Investigate suspicious activities or individuals and report hazards or unusual circumstances to the Security Operations Center.
- Respond appropriately to emergency, non-emergency, and alarm calls, using sound judgment to determine the cause and take necessary actions.
- Administer initial first aid as needed, based on training received.
- Learn applicable systems and respond to fire alarms during actual incidents and drills.
- Utilize verbal de-escalation techniques to intercede in disputes.
- Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic on AdventHealth properties.
- Document safety hazards, incidents, and criminal activities for Security Administration and law enforcement.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, candidates should possess:
- A valid state driver's license and a driving record in accordance with AdventHealth policy.
- International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety (IAHSS) Basic Training certification or equivalent within six months of hire.
- Completion of departmental testing (Mental, Physical, etc.) as applicable to the facility.
- A valid Florida Driver's License.
