Position Overview
The Patient Access Coordinator role is essential in managing the initial patient interaction, ensuring critical functions that are vital for effective clinical treatment, billing, reimbursement, and overall patient satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Execute accurate and high-quality patient registrations in the Health Information System (HIS), safeguarding the integrity of demographic and financial data necessary for clinical and billing operations during each patient visit.
- Efficiently manage time and workflow to meet departmental and organizational standards.
- Verify and assess insurance benefits and secure financial clearance for all payors at each patient encounter.
- Collaborate with the Centralized Referral Center to confirm that prior authorizations are in place.
- Investigate and rectify any discrepancies in registration related to demographic, clinical, and insurance information.
- Adhere to state and federal regulations as well as institutional policies concerning compliance, integrity, and ethical registration practices.
- Prepare patient estimate letters and facilitate cash collections when applicable, ensuring proper posting of patient payments.
- Employ AIDET principles in all interactions with customers and patients.
- Review and confirm that all medical orders comply with governmental and hospital standards, along with clinical protocols.
- Conduct clinical screenings for designated modalities to guarantee patient safety.
- Utilize computer systems effectively to enhance workflow efficiency.
- Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the department supervisor or manager.
- Obtain insurance eligibility and benefit details from payors via various methods to provide patients with estimated financial responsibilities for services requested or rendered.
- Maintain an accurate cash drawer and manage related reconciliation and deposit tasks.
- Demonstrate excellent typing and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Ensure effective use of computer systems to streamline work processes.
- Exhibit strong oral and written communication skills.
- Complete detail-oriented tasks with precision.
- Foster a positive attitude and collaborate effectively within a team while also being capable of working independently.
- Uphold confidentiality and manage sensitive information appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's Degree preferred.
- Experience: A minimum of one year in healthcare access, customer service, or an office/financial environment is required; three years of experience in a similar setting is preferred.
