Nuclear Core Design Specialist

At Holtec International, we are seeking highly motivated and skilled individuals to join our team as Nuclear Core Design Engineers. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will be responsible for performing reactor physics analysis and benchmarking activities in support of the nuclear core design for the SMR-300 small modular reactor.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on the development and licensing of the SMR-300 PWR integral light water reactor. You will have the flexibility to work on a wide array of technical and regulatory topics and the opportunity to learn new skills to create feasible/practical solutions to challenging design problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, modeling, and analyses of the nuclear core and evaluation of the fuel cycle performance for the SMR-300 PWR integral light water reactor.
- Develop nuclear parameters to provide input to safety analysis (transient and accident analysis), provide data for startup physics testing, support operations (acceptable limits for operations), and predict core follow.
- Computer code qualification and validation.
- Report preparation and licensing documentation.
- Participation in meetings with clients, collaborators, and with the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering or Physics from an accredited college or university.
- 0-5 years of experience in the nuclear industry or similarly applicable field.
- Demonstrated neutronics or radiation transport analytical skills with CASMO/SIMULATE, MCNP, or other similar analysis code packages.
- General knowledge of nuclear power plant operations/physics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency required in Microsoft Office suite of PC applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
