Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund (AFREF) is seeking a skilled Communications Associate or Communications Coordinator to support our media and communications strategies.
This role will play a critical part in elevating our campaigns fighting for strong consumer protections, taking on private equity firms and the abuses of Wall Street, and combating the harms of systemic racism.
Key Responsibilities- Media Monitoring and Research: Stay up-to-date on key news developments and circulate relevant information to task forces.
- Content Creation: Write and edit news releases, op-eds, and other materials for public consumption, and disseminate them to media and organizational partners.
- Media Relations: Build relationships with journalists covering AFR issues and facilitate conversations between policy and campaigns staff and media representatives.
- Coalition Support: Assist organizational partners with media work and contribute to building and maintaining the AFR coalition.
- Media List Management: Build, maintain, and audit media lists to ensure effective outreach.
- Website Updates: Update the website to reflect AFR's media presence and prepare media highlights.
- Special Projects: Contribute to special research projects and events as needed.
- Integrated Communications: Work with other staff to execute an integrated communications strategy.
- Communications Director Support: Assist and, when necessary, stand in for the Communications Director in internal and external communications.
A competitive annual salary range of $55,000-$70,000 for Communications Associate and $70,000-$85,000 for Communications Coordinator, commensurate with experience. Generous benefits, including medical, dental, vision, and 401K.
