Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Director of Public Policy Outreach to join our team at the American Academy of Actuaries. As a key member of our Public Policy department, you will be responsible for executing our external outreach strategy and supporting department management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement external strategies to understand stakeholder needs and market opportunities.
  • Assess and track national and state political landscapes relevant to the actuarial profession.
  • Collaborate with Department leadership team to devise comprehensive outreach tactics.
  • Translate technical material into digestible and accessible materials for mainstream readership.
  • Develop standards of practice related to external engagement.
  • Maintain strong network of contacts to strengthen ongoing relationships.
Requirements
  • Extensive expertise in policy, relationship management, and strategic engagement.
  • Strong interpersonal communications, leadership ability, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Overall resourcefulness and ability to take initiative.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in member associations or trade organizations.
  • Former lobbying experience is a plus.
  • Project management experience and experience with Asana is a plus.
