Maintenance Worker I

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker I to join our Facilities Operations team at the University of Texas at Austin. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for performing maintenance and repair work in various craft areas, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as adjusting thermostats, changing filters, and repairing clogged commodes, sinks, and urinals.
- Conduct electrical maintenance, including replacing light bulbs and fixtures.
- Paint and perform carpentry repairs as needed.
- Set up and take down tables, chairs, and equipment for events held on-site.
- Support special events outside of regular working hours.
- Secure buildings and rooms on schedule and/or after cleaning.
- Interact with visitors, volunteers, and staff in a professional and courteous manner.
- Drive a golf cart to perform duties in remote locations of the property.
- Maintain the cleanliness of the facility, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and removing trash.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience in maintenance and repair work preferred.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in a fast-paced environment.
