The Lansing Board of Water & Light is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Public Relations and Marketing team as an Archival Intern. This is a full-time summer internship opportunity that will provide the selected candidate with hands-on experience in planning and coordinating the development of our corporate historical collection.
Key Responsibilities- Photograph Digitization Project: The successful candidate will be responsible for scanning historic photographs, uploading them to our collections database, and tagging the images with relevant information.
- Research and Documentation: The intern will conduct research on photographs that lack sufficient information and document their findings.
- Project Organization and Structure: The candidate will ensure that the photograph digitization project is organized and structured in a way that allows BWL staff to utilize the images in various ways, such as marketing, community outreach, and museum exhibitions.
- Community Outreach Initiative: The intern will contribute to a community-outreach initiative that provides access to photographs featuring family, friends, and old coworkers.
- Education: Currently enrolled in an accredited educational institution with a focus on history, anthropology, information studies, museum studies, or other related humanities.
- Academic Status: Junior or senior status during the summer of 2025.
- GPA: Minimum GPA of 3.0.
The successful candidate will be required to work in a temperature-controlled office environment and perform site visits to various job and work sites. The position requires the ability to remain in a stationary position for the majority of the working day, move about inside the office environment, and operate a computer and other office equipment.
