Project Scheduler Role Overview

This role involves planning and scheduling a new construction industrial project, monitoring project costs, and estimating. Work is conducted under minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze schedules for contract packages to forecast construction activities, identifying potential safety and schedule conflicts.
  • Regularly update schedules by gathering information from meetings, construction coordination interviews, and field verification.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of earned value and project productivity metrics.
  • Manage the change notice/change order system, facilitating weekly change notice hearings and change committee meetings.
  • Maintain and reconcile the cost system, including commitments, change orders, contractor invoices, and cost reports.
  • Establish and maintain a progressive system for project schedules.
  • Assist in developing construction and contract strategies, particularly in relation to logistics and safety.
  • Perform quantity analysis for the duration of activities and for estimating purposes.
  • Lead Project Controls efforts with contractors, and internal teams, providing necessary management direction within the Project Controls discipline.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Construction Science, Building Science, or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Certification from AACE International or the Project Management Institute (PMI) is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant industrial experience in scheduling, and cost control is required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail is essential.
  • Ability to effectively set and manage priorities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to discuss and correspond with various disciplines and contractors to gather pertinent information.
  • Excellent presentation and organizational skills are required.
  • Knowledge of deliverable development across disciplines to ensure coordination.
  • Understanding of schedule constraints and information requirements for project controls deliverables. Ability to develop cost estimates, detailed schedules, and man-hour budgets.
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to travel 1 week per month.
