Spacecraft Power Electronics Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Spacecraft Power Electronics Engineer to join our team at The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL). As a key member of our Spacecraft Power Engineering Group (SEP), you will play a critical role in designing, testing, and delivering reliable spacecraft power systems for APL's space sector and broader space community.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop power electronics hardware for space flight missions
- Contribute to the development of ground support equipment products to support flight hardware verification
- Perform technical trade studies and develop hardware requirements
- Generate fabrication drawings and support production
- Characterize performance of hardware designs and document hardware verification activities
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- 6+ years of experience developing high reliability power electronics hardware
- Skilled in the design, production, and test of power electronics
- Experience performing circuit simulation, worst-case analysis, and derating analysis
- Experience developing and executing test procedures
- Ability to obtain a Secret level security clearance
- Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering
- Experience developing electronics hardware for spacecraft applications
- Experience leading an electrical hardware development team
- Experience developing motor control electronics and algorithms
- Familiarity with radiation tolerant and space-qualified parts
- Experience designing power magnetics
- Experience using Mentor Graphics Expedition
