Position Summary:
Chemours is seeking a Laboratory Safety Coordinator to enhance our safety initiatives. This role will report to the Site Safety, Security, and Contract Administration Manager and will focus on elevating our safety performance to the highest standards. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in driving safety enhancements, established networks, and experience in a research and development environment. They will be expected to apply their expertise to implement programs and initiatives that significantly improve safety outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Lab Process Safety Management program, conducting thorough reviews of hazard risk assessments and standard operating procedures.
  • Collaborate with Research & Development teams to ensure safe operational practices and appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Oversee the Lab Safety Audit Program, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the review, revision, or creation of new safety protocols.
  • Evaluate and analyze safety performance metrics, providing insights and recommendations for enhancements.
  • Coach research personnel on strategies to promote psychological safety, including team and leadership development.
  • Support site improvement initiatives by analyzing performance indicators and driving continuous enhancement in occupational safety.
  • Facilitate workplace medical surveillance programs, ensuring compliance with respiratory protection and hearing conservation standards.
  • Contribute to the site's Radiation Safety Program through comprehensive reviews and audits.
  • Engage in corporate-wide safety networks to share best practices and stay informed on regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3 to 5 years of laboratory experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of laboratory hazard risk assessments and a history of implementing safety improvements.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to identify and execute process enhancements.
  • Capability to cultivate productive relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to meeting obligations and solving problems effectively.
  • Ability to influence through effective written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience handling hazardous materials.
  • Experience leading process hazard evaluations.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations.
