Job Summary

ChristianaCare is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Newark, Delaware. As a Histology Technician, you will play a critical role in processing anatomic pathology specimens and preparing tissue blocks and slides for Pathologists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify the accuracy of specimen identification and maintain appropriate records.
  • Process and embed tissue specimens according to established procedures and standards.
  • Cut tissue blocks and coverlips slides according to established procedures and standards.
  • Perform routine and special stains according to established procedures and standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of frozen sections and perform special procedures.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Organize and present completed cases accurately and according to all time schedules.
  • Follow all ChristianaCare and laboratory safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all annual Laboratory Safety Training, including Safety Manual review and Fire Safety.
  • Provide excellent customer service and respond to inquiries and requests in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree as Histotechnician.
  • ASCP certification required.
  • Knowledge of Histology laboratory techniques and procedures.
  • Knowledge of laboratory techniques for safety, infection control, and quality assurance.
  • Manual dexterity and normal color vision.
  • Ability to use manual and automated equipment.
