Position Summary:
Accountable for directing environmental, health, and safety (EHS) initiatives across two manufacturing facilities.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures compliance with local, national, and international regulations regarding safety, health, and environmental practices.
  • Manages the hazardous materials program, focusing on waste reduction and recycling efforts aligned with corporate stewardship goals.
  • Delivers safety training sessions for all personnel, ensuring adherence to OSHA standards and actively identifies potential workplace hazards through various assessment techniques.
  • Engages in incident investigations and provides expertise on compliance matters, supporting management in implementing effective safety methods.
  • Tracks EHS performance metrics and develops action plans to address any outstanding issues promptly.
  • Leads the Safety Steering Team to foster a proactive safety environment.
  • Acts as the primary coordinator for emergency response efforts.
  • Ensures compliance with shipping regulations, including DOT, IATA, and IMDG.
  • Collaborates on the design and selection of safety equipment and engineering controls, drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for high-risk processes.
  • Assists cross-functional teams with compliance and documentation for new product initiatives.
  • Coordinates industrial hygiene monitoring to maintain OSHA compliance.
  • Oversees the maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supplies.
  • Stays informed on evolving environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as required.
Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a scientific discipline.
  • Proven experience in managing EHS compliance in manufacturing environments.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA 1910 and EPA hazardous waste regulations.
  • Exceptional communication skills, demonstrating a proactive approach to employee safety and health.

Environmental Factors & Mental/Physical Demands:

Primarily operates in a controlled indoor environment.

Involves extended periods of sitting, as well as standing, walking, and lifting up to 75 pounds.

Requires effective communication and interaction with various stakeholders.

May involve occasional travel for meetings or training sessions.

Compliance with PPE requirements is necessary when entering production or laboratory areas.
