The Laboratory Billing Supervisor is accountable for the prompt and precise submission of all laboratory billing claims. Key responsibilities encompass:

- Leading and strategizing billing operations.
- Formulating, executing, and enforcing policies and procedures while optimizing billing processes across various payer markets.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of five years of experience in medical billing and coding.
Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with potential extended hours based on workload.
Primary Responsibilities:- Oversee the laboratory billing department, collaborating with management to assess productivity and performance for revenue maximization.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as billing and collections policies to achieve accounts receivable (AR) targets.
- Drive revenue cycle enhancements across the organization by coordinating with relevant departments, including medical records and denial management, to resolve identified issues.
- Engage in staff development and evaluations to uphold industry best practices.
- Provide leadership across all facets of the billing department, including reimbursement, coding & compliance, and credentialing.
- Evaluate and make decisions regarding the value and collectability of accounts receivable, recommending procedures to maintain acceptable Days of Revenue in AR.
- Prepare monthly analyses and reports related to departmental performance.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, healthcare administration, or business management/administration.
- CPC (Certified Procedural Coder) certification is preferred.
- At least one year of medical billing experience in a laboratory or diagnostic setting.
- Prior experience in billing for clinical molecular diagnostics.
- Minimum of one year in a supervisory role.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, CPT, ICD9, and ICD10 codes.
- Knowledge of relevant federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations concerning patient billing and collections.
- Understanding of HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules.
- Awareness of all regulatory reimbursement and insurance-related requirements.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with individuals and groups.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in building working relationships.
- Detail-oriented, organized, capable of setting priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- High level of interpersonal skills to manage sensitive and confidential situations, demonstrating poise, tact, and diplomacy.
- Advanced proficiency in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel.
