Job Overview

The Delta Hotels by Marriott Minneapolis NE is looking for a part-time, hourly Barista to join our Mid-City Coffee cafe located in the hotel lobby. We take pride in serving Starbucks Coffee.

The Barista will deliver exceptional hospitality and outstanding service to every guest. This role plays a crucial part in the success of Starbucks by providing legendary customer service to all patrons. The position is responsible for creating a memorable Starbucks Experience by ensuring prompt service, high-quality beverages and products, and maintaining a clean and inviting store atmosphere. The Barista will embody and adhere to Starbucks' guiding principles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and knowledge that support the culture, values, and mission of Starbucks.
  • Maintains composure during busy periods or unexpected events to ensure smooth store operations and sets a positive example for the team.
  • Proactively assesses customer and store needs by observing the environment and customer cues.
  • Communicates relevant information to management to help the team create a welcoming environment during each shift.
  • Assists in training new team members by positively reinforcing successful performance and providing respectful coaching as necessary.
  • Fosters a positive team atmosphere by recognizing changes in partner morale and performance and communicating them to management.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by prioritizing customer needs and building connections with guests. Identifies and addresses customer requirements.
  • Adheres to operational policies and procedures, including cash handling and safety protocols, to ensure the safety of all team members during shifts.
  • Keeps a tidy and organized workspace to enable team members to find resources and products easily.
  • Consistently prepares quality beverages, whole bean, and food items by following all recipe and presentation standards.
  • Complies with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products.
  • Recognizes and celebrates individual and team achievements using established organizational methods.

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience necessary; some barista experience is preferred.
  • Must maintain regular attendance and punctuality, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
  • Ability to prepare food and beverages according to standard recipes or customize them for customers, including modifications to temperature, ingredient quantities, or substitutions.
  • Prepared to perform various tasks within the store during each shift.
