Position Overview

The Clinical Pharmacy Specialist plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for patients by delivering extensive clinical services tailored to their specific needs. This position ensures the optimal use of medications and effective management of resources, while also considering pharmacoeconomic factors within the healthcare framework. Collaboration with healthcare team members is essential to achieve shared objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively manages personal pharmacy practice.
  • Contributes to departmental goals, initiatives, and performance metrics.
  • Engages in the development of pharmacotherapeutic plans.
  • Actively participates in both interdepartmental and intradepartmental committees.
  • Supervises and guides healthcare team members.
  • Provides educational resources and training.
  • Delivers comprehensive drug information.
  • Involves in projects and research to advance professional knowledge and enhance patient care.
  • Oversees medication orders with attention to age-specific safety considerations.
  • Processes and prepares sterile products for distribution.
  • Completes assigned objectives efficiently.

Qualifications

Education

Preferred: Advanced education in health-system pharmacy services.

Minimum: Bachelor of Science (B.S.) or Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.).

Experience

Preferred: Not applicable.

Minimum: Not applicable.

Licensure and Certification

Minimum: Licensed Pharmacist in the relevant state.

Special Skills

Preferred: Membership in state and/or national hospital pharmacy associations.

Minimum: Strong communication and computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office. High-level cognitive ability to interpret and evaluate written medication orders for optimal use. Capable of teaching and mentoring residents, students, interns, and externs.

Training

Preferred: Completion of PGY-2 Pharmacy Residency and/or Pharmacy Board Certification, along with BLS and ACLS certifications or equivalent experience exceeding three years.

Minimum: Completion of PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency or equivalent clinical experience of three years.
