We are seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to become a crucial part of our patient care team, enhancing patient outcomes and furthering our mission.


Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Services:
Deliver delegated clinical services, engage in multidisciplinary discussions regarding patient care, and ensure adherence to research protocols.

Education:
Provide education to patients and families, and participate in professional development activities, including accredited presentations and training for pharmacy students and residents.

Research Collaboration:
Assist in the development of research protocols and contribute to various research initiatives.

Professional Development:
Engage in continuous professional education and support the accredited Specialty Residency in Oncology.

Job Duties:
Drug Distribution and Control:
  • Exhibit comprehensive knowledge of all drug distribution and control functions within pharmacy operations.
Collaborate effectively with pharmacy and clinical staff to address patient care needs promptly.
Clinical and Professional Services:
  • Coordinate clinical pharmacy services with a focus on delegated clinical services as outlined in policy.
Provide drug information and clinical expertise for patient care; serve as a medication therapy expert for assigned medical services.

Work with departmental leadership to develop and implement performance improvement initiatives, focusing on drug therapy prescribing and monitoring.

Collaborate with pharmacy and clinical staff to ensure effective medication reconciliation and seamless patient care transitions.

Demonstrate knowledge of protocols for all medical services and identify variations from defined drug-therapy-related elements.
Research Program Support:
  • Actively participate in departmental clinical research programs.
Provide patient-specific information and updates on relevant protocol patients during departmental meetings. Develop clinical research protocols as necessary to meet departmental or institutional objectives.
Education and Informatics Support:
  • Work with Clinical Informatics to aid in the development of information systems and processes for successful integration of CPOE.
Participate in departmental educational initiatives for pharmacist training. Serve as a reliable educator and role model for pharmacy residents and students on experiential rotations.
Demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to facilitate optimal drug therapy for assigned patient care groups. Maintain competencies required for excellent collaborative pharmacy patient care services, as defined in institutional policy.
Departmental and Institutional Responsibilities:
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to achieve departmental and institutional goals.
Participate in selected departmental and institutional committees. Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Minimum Education and Training:
Graduate of a pharmacy college accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education with a Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Minimum Experience:
Completion of a clinical pharmacy specialty residency in Oncology or Pediatrics is required. In the absence of residency training, a minimum of five years of clinical experience may be considered.

Certification or eligibility for certification by the Board of Pharmaceutical Specialties in a relevant area is required.


Licensure and Certification:
Licensure by the Tennessee State Board of Pharmacy is required.
