Staff Accountant Job Description

SourcePro Search, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Staff Accountant to support the Accounting and Operations department. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with experience in financial statements, payroll, accounts payable, and account reconciliation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Handle day-to-day accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, expense reports, and credit cards.
  • Responsible for accounts payable functions from original entry through payment and reconciling all transactions.
  • Secure appropriate approvals of all incoming vendor invoices, post, and issue payments as required.
  • Track expenses and process expense reports; prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.
  • Handle weekly processing of payroll and coordinate with billing all paid hours for contingent workforce.
  • Reconcile bank accounts weekly.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests for information requiring knowledge of departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Create and maintain an up-to-date Payroll & Accounts Payable Systems & Procedures Manual.
  • Maintain up-to-date record keeping of financial documents, vendor and A/P files; prepare analysis of accounts; monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
  • Responsible for financial statements, reports, and records related to payroll, accounts payable, and overall general accounting practices and reconciliation of all to the general ledger.
  • Responsible for general ledger account reconciliation and maintenance and misc. journal entries.
  • Manage credit cards & reconciliations.
  • Go through scanned mail addressing anything that a response is required.
  • Assist with information for annual reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all areas above.
  • Assist with other accounting projects as needed.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting.
  • 5+ years of related experience in accounting and finance, particularly with financial statements, payroll accounts payable, and account reconciliation.
  • 5+ years of experience with general ledger.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles and practices.
  • Experience with QuickBooks Enterprise or other enterprise accounting software.
  • Proficient in MS Office suite (above average technical skills in Excel).
  • Proficient data entry skills and management of financial data.
  • Experience exercising discretion and confidentiality with regards to company accounts.
  • Driven, self-motivated, and highly organized and able to prioritize.
  • Demonstrated ability to take direction and work independently as well as within a team.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines.
  • High degree of professional integrity.
  • Exceptional critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Staffing industry experience preferred.
