Position Summary:

The Staff Accountant will support the accounting department by preparing and posting general ledger entries, managing accounts payable, and processing accounts receivable transactions.

Ideal Candidate:

You are a detail-oriented and driven individual who thrives on balancing ledgers and resolving discrepancies.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the general ledger by preparing, posting, and reconciling transactions.
  • Post accounts payable invoices, match invoices with purchase order receipts, set up new vendors, and reconcile vendor accounts.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding any invoicing discrepancies.
  • Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
  • Reconcile cash disbursement accounts, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
  • Post customer payments, communicate with customers regarding unpaid invoices, and respond to customer inquiries about invoicing discrepancies.
  • Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
  • Support the monthly close process.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience (can include internship or co-op)
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting
  • Experience with NetSuite (or similar system) preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel (v look up, macros, formulas)
  • Strong skills in working with spreadsheets and large data sets.
  • Team player who excels in executing repetitive tasks with accuracy and autonomy
  • Ability to learn quickly, adapt to changes, and communicate effectively
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks in a deadline-driven environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Brief periods of standing, bending, reaching and occasional light lifting required.
  • Ability to communicate promptly and accurately via computer, telephone, etc.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
