Media Center Specialist

Wayne County School District is seeking a highly skilled Media Specialist to join our team. As a Media Specialist, you will play a critical role in creating an enriching library/media center environment that supports student learning and academic success.
Job SummaryThe Media Specialist will be responsible for maintaining a comprehensive and efficient system for cataloguing all media center materials, assisting students and teachers with the use of the system, and coordinating the lending of library materials to students and teachers. Additionally, the Media Specialist will develop and arrange media center displays, assist with the preparation and administration of the media center budget, and train and supervise media center support employees.
Key Responsibilities- Evaluate, select, and requisition appropriate books, aids, and other supplies and equipment.
- Assist students in evaluating their aptitudes and abilities through the interpretation of individual standardized test scores and other pertinent data.
- Coordinate with administrators and other teaching staff members to assist in the selection of books and other instructional materials.
- Serve as a ready resource to students to provide research assistance.
- Maintain accurate and complete record-keeping and provide student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by district procedures and applicable laws.
- Encourage parental involvement in students' education and ensure effective communication with students and parents.
- Ensure that student conduct conforms to the school's standards and school district policies.
- Georgia State Certification as a Librarian or Library/Media Specialist or as required for positions.
- Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
- Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
- Masters Degree in Media Science.
The Media Specialist will work in a standard office and school building environment. The position requires the ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others, and communicate effectively with students and parents.
