Job SummaryThe Benefits Director is responsible for the administration of health and welfare plans for Apex Systems. This role provides special guidance and assistance to all locations on various employee benefit plans, as needed. The Benefits Director manages vendor relationships, recommends and implements approved, new, or modified plans and employee benefits policies, and develops strategies to aid compliance with applicable national requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Administering employee benefits programs for two populations, including 401(k) retirement savings plans, major medical plans, limited medical, dental plan, vision plan, term life insurance plans, temporary disability programs, long-term disability, and voluntary plans such as accident insurance and critical illness insurance.
- Evaluating and comparing existing company benefits with those of other employers by analyzing other plans, surveys, and other sources of information.
The Benefits Director will:
- Develop specifications for new plans or modify existing plans to maintain the company's competitive position in the labor market and obtain a uniform benefit package for all company locations, where possible.
- Coordinate the company's wellness initiatives.
- Manage vendor relationships in both self-funded and fully insured environments.
- Prepare annual audit reports for Worker's Compensation and 401(k).
- Communicate and educate employees on benefits updates and ACA requirements.
- Prepare Federal and State required reporting.
- Manage and mentor a benefits team.
- Prepare for and implement Open Enrollment.
- Exercise fiduciary responsibility for the 401(k) retirement savings plan.
- Develop cost control procedures to ensure maximum coverage at the least possible cost to the company and employees.
- A bachelor's degree and five (5) years' experience in Benefits Administration, or a master's degree in Human Resource Management and four (4) years' experience in Benefits Administration, or any appropriate combination of education and experience.
- Seven (7) years of progressive experience in Benefits Administration and/or management, preferably with a multi-state employer with self-funded plans.
- Five (5) years of team leadership or management.
- This position will be a hybrid role and requires three (3) days in-office per week, based in Richmond, VA.
