Position Summary:
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance and upkeep of production machinery.
MAINTENANCE & SERVICE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor mechanical systems in operation and listen for irregular sounds to identify issues.
- Dismantle equipment to access and replace faulty components.
- Perform maintenance on machinery and related equipment as assigned.
- Replace or repair defective parts as necessary.
- Install specialized functional and structural components in machinery.
- Maintain a comprehensive list of ongoing maintenance tasks.
- Set up and operate tools and equipment for manufacturing and repair tasks.
- Utilize measuring instruments such as volt meters and tape measures.
- Be available for overtime and weekend work as required.
- Lubricate moving parts of machines to ensure smooth operation.
- Document and report any damaged or worn components.
- Order and install replacement parts for machinery.
- Diagnose causes of unexpected machine failures.
- Efficiently repair malfunctioning equipment.
QUALITY CONTROL DUTIES
- Activate machinery to assess performance levels.
- Inspect used components for compliance with dimensional specifications.
- Examine parts for surface imperfections and quality assurance.
- Thoroughly check all work before returning machinery to operational status.
- Adjust functional components and control instruments as needed.
SAFETY PROTOCOLS
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards throughout the facility.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and procedures.
- Report any work-related injuries to the supervisor immediately.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal and time management abilities.
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in electronic and mechanical troubleshooting of automated manufacturing equipment.
- 3 years of experience in print, direct mail, bindery, or fulfillment industries is preferred.
- Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with variable speed drives and related software.
- Ability to work effectively in both team-oriented and independent environments.
- Experience in fast-paced settings with multiple deadlines.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
A High School Diploma and relevant experience in machine servicing and repair are required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read and understand simple instructions and correspondence.
- Ability to write basic correspondence and effectively present information in small group settings.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic operations with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
CERTIFICATIONS
- Valid Driver's License.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
- Regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands for handling and manipulating objects.
- Occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Familiarity with operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other machinery is essential.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Employees may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and occasionally to fumes or airborne particles.
