Museum Associate Director

The City of Fort Collins is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Museum Associate Director to join our team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will play a vital role in enhancing community connections and fostering partnerships. This position involves strategic planning, outreach initiatives, and collaborative projects that engage diverse audiences.
About the RoleThe Museum Associate Director will be responsible for working closely with the Museum Executive Directors on capital projects, long-term planning, annual exhibits, and programming schedules. You will also serve as Acting-Director in the absence and/or at the request of the Director. Additionally, you will oversee and direct the work of others in relation to museum partnerships, programming, exhibition development, customer service, and retail.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement strategic plans to enhance community connections and foster partnerships
- Collaborate with the Museum Executive Directors on capital projects, long-term planning, and annual exhibits
- Oversee and direct the work of others in relation to museum partnerships, programming, exhibition development, customer service, and retail
- Participate as a curator on museum exhibitions and oversee others in this capacity
- Establish and oversee policies and procedures for the maintenance of the museum collections
- Recruit, select, train, direct, and oversee the work of interns, volunteers, and hourly employees
- Participate in the preparation of short-term and long-range plans and the department's annual budget
- Maintain liaisons and oversee partnerships with local interest groups, local university, and regional and national professional organizations
- Associate's degree in a related field, bachelor's degree preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Tourism, Hospitality, Theatre, Business, or related field from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree
- Five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
