Job Summary

This position is responsible for ensuring the supervision and safety of residents and the facility. Under the direction of the mental health professional, staff provide direct supportive services and emergency intervention when needed.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise residents to ensure their health and safety
  • Respond immediately to emergency situations following established policies and procedures
  • Facilitate one-to-one and group interventions and educational lessons using evidence-based materials
  • Consult with the mental health professional on psychiatric emergencies and follow directions
  • Provide a supportive, recovery-oriented perspective with all residents
  • Complete client skill-building and mental health interventions as assigned by the mental health professional
  • Closely monitor activities throughout the facility
  • Conduct periodic room checks and regular fire drills
  • Maintain safe access to medications for residents
Secondary Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Remove hazards from walkways
  • Provide security for hazardous materials
  • Complete housekeeping duties as needed
  • Prompt and assist residents with daily chores and organization
  • Supervise residents during medication self-administration
  • Provide timely transportation to health-related services and activities
Requirements
  • Must pass required background check
  • Be 21 years of age or older
  • Meet the standards for Mental Health Practitioner per DHS guidelines
  • Ability to handle confidential information responsibly
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Availability and flexibility to work additional hours as needed
Work Environment

Mainly in the residential facility, with occasional group outings into the community.
