Job Summary

The Environmental Engineer is a key member of our team at Richmond American Homes, responsible for designing, implementing, and managing projects aimed at protecting and improving environmental quality.

Key Responsibilities
  • Environmental Assessment and Compliance: Conduct environmental impact assessments for projects and activities, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations and standards.
  • Design and Implementation: Develop and design systems for waste treatment, water and air quality control, and pollution prevention, creating and implementing strategies for remediation of contaminated sites and managing hazardous materials.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Monitor environmental conditions and performance of environmental systems, collecting and analyzing environmental data, such as air and water samples, and preparing detailed reports, including recommendations for improvements or corrective actions.
  • Project Management: Manage environmental projects from conception through completion, including planning, budgeting, and scheduling, coordinating with contractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders, and ensuring that projects meet deadlines, budgets, and regulatory requirements.
  • Research and Innovation: Stay up-to-date with advancements in environmental engineering, technologies, and regulations, conducting research to develop new methods for environmental protection and sustainability, and implementing best practices and innovative solutions to address environmental challenges.
  • Client and Stakeholder Interaction: Communicate with clients to understand their environmental needs and provide expert advice, engaging with community stakeholders to address environmental concerns and promote awareness, and presenting findings and recommendations to clients, regulatory bodies, and the public.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that environmental projects adhere to health and safety regulations, conducting risk assessments and implementing safety protocols to protect workers and the environment.
  • Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to staff and stakeholders on environmental practices and compliance, participating in professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geological Engineering, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred.
  • Certification: Professional Engineer (PE) or Professional Geologist (PG) license preferred, with other certifications such as Civil Engineering License, ACI Field and Concrete Certification, Registered Environmental Property Assessor License, EPA AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector Certification, EPA Radon Mitigator Certification, IESO Residential Mold Inspector, INSTEP Licensed Environmental Professional Certification, NCCER Construction Site Safety Orientation Certification, OSHA Hazardous Waste Safety for the General Site Worker Certification, OSHA Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Site Worker Certification, CPN Radiation Safety Officer Training Certification.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of experience in environmental engineering, including participation in the performance of all appropriate inquiries investigations, environmental site assessments, or other site investigations that may include environmental analysis, investigations, and remediation, which involve the understanding of surface and subsurface environmental conditions and the processes used to evaluate these conditions.
