Position Overview

The University of California, Davis, is seeking a distinguished senior faculty member to hold the Endowed Professorship in Neurosurgical Research. This prestigious position is designed to recognize and support outstanding scholars in the field of neurosurgical research.



Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:



  • Conduct innovative and impactful research in neurosurgical science, with a focus on basic scientific discovery or technology development with potential for clinical translation.
  • Teach and mentor the next generation of researchers and clinicians, including medical and graduate students, postdoctoral students, and fellows.
  • Provide leadership in the area of neurosurgical injury or disease, fostering a culture of collaboration and collegiality within and beyond the department.
  • Enhance the academic and intellectual life of the campus, advancing the mission of the Department of Neurological Surgery and the University of California, Davis.


Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:



  • A strong record of research excellence and a demonstrated aptitude for scientific research relevant to neurosurgical patient care.
  • A faculty appointment in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis, with a minimum of 51% appointment in the Department of Neurological Surgery.
  • Experience in providing leadership and fostering a culture of collaboration and collegiality.
