Position Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join our Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality division. This role involves working onsite with a structured 9x80 schedule, ensuring compliance with various quality standards and regulations. You will report directly to the Quality Manager and play a pivotal role in executing INL's quality initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Formulate quality documentation, including inspection strategies and commercial grade dedication plans, while applying quality engineering principles and relevant codes.
  • Conduct thorough quality evaluations of diverse work planning documents, engineering designs, and procurement specifications.
  • Perform assessments, audits, and surveillance activities to guarantee adherence to the INL Quality Program.
  • Maintain necessary training and skill proficiency.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of quality systems and provide technical guidance to project and facility management regarding quality compliance.
  • Mentor peers and program facility managers on effective methods to fulfill quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with senior management on significant quality-related matters that require cross-organizational coordination.
Qualifications:
  • Level 3: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, or similar) with 5 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 4: Bachelor’s degree in a technical field related to Quality with 9 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience in a Quality-related field (engineering, operations, manufacturing) is essential.
  • Familiarity with common INL Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) processes is required.
  • Proficiency in implementing INL Quality Assurance processes is necessary.
  • Must obtain Radiation Worker II qualification within the first three months.
  • INL Lead Assessor qualification is required within the first six months.
  • INL/ATR Quality Engineer qualification must be achieved within the first six months.
  • Maintain INL Quality Assurance Auditor status within the first 12 months.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship.
Compensation and Benefits:
  • Salary Grade: Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496) and Level 4 ($91,008 - $186,588), determined by education and experience.
