Job Overview

Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Assurance Engineer to join our team at the Naval Nuclear Laboratory. This role is pivotal in ensuring the quality and safety of our projects, particularly in the construction of significant facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
The Quality Assurance Engineer will collaborate with the Quality and Safety Oversight team, leveraging expertise in quality assurance standards through meticulous surveillance of operations and compliance audits. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management (EPCM) subcontractor to guarantee adherence to technical and quality specifications.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation and records to facilitate the commissioning and operational startup of facilities.
  • Engaging in regular interactions with management, subcontractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Conducting field surveillance and formal audits to ensure compliance with established standards.
  • Working independently with minimal supervision while demonstrating strong problem-solving skills.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related scientific field with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or
  • A Master's degree in engineering or a related scientific field with at least 7 years of relevant experience; or
  • Alternative qualifications such as Shift Supervisor Part II, SIT qualifications, or significant experience in nuclear operations.

Preferred Skills:
Successful candidates will demonstrate:

  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
  • Familiarity with NQA-1 2008/2009a or equivalent nuclear quality assurance programs.
