Job Overview

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Lead Quality Engineer to join our Environment, Safety, Health, and Quality division. This role involves working onsite with a 9x80 schedule, allowing for every other Friday off. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, you will leverage your expertise to implement and uphold INL's quality initiatives, ensuring adherence to DOE, INL, and specific customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Craft quality planning documents, including inspection and commercial grade dedication plans, while applying quality engineering principles and relevant codes and standards.
  • Conduct quality evaluations of various work planning documents, engineering designs, and procurement specifications (e.g., ASME NQA-1 and B31.1).
  • Perform assessments, surveillances, and audits, collaborating with peers and management to ensure compliance with the INL Quality Program and maintain uniformity.
  • Ensure required training and proficiency are maintained.
  • Assist in the development of the quality program and implementation systems for various initiatives. Provide technical guidance and support to project and facility management personnel regarding quality compliance and implementation challenges.
  • Mentor peers and program facility managers on effective methods to fulfill quality requirements. Offer training in the technical aspects of the INL Quality program.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to project and facility management concerning quality compliance and implementation issues. Collaborate with senior management on significant matters requiring cross-organizational coordination.
Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline) with 5 years of relevant experience, or 11 years of pertinent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Level 4: Bachelor of Science degree in a technical field related to Quality (Chemistry, Engineering, or a related discipline) with 9 years of relevant experience, or 15 years of pertinent experience in lieu of a degree.
  • Relevant experience assessed based on level in a Quality field (engineering, operations, manufacturing).
  • Familiarity with common INL NDE processes (e.g., LT, RT, MT, PT, UT, and VT) is required, with MT, PT, and VT being mandatory.
  • Proficiency in implementing INL ATR Quality Assurance processes (e.g., PDD-13000, LST-1118, NQA-1, Software Quality Requirements, ASME B31.1 and B31.3 required, ASME Section III, V, VIII & XI required, AWS D 1.1, and AWS D 1.6, among other national quality standards).
  • Radiation Worker II qualification (to be obtained within the first three months of assignment).
  • INL Lead Assessor qualification (to be obtained within the first six months of assignment).
  • INL/ATR Quality Engineer qualification (to be achieved within the first six months of assignment).
  • INL Quality Assurance Auditor (to be maintained within the first 12 months of assignment).
  • This position necessitates the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires U.S. Citizenship.
Job Information:
  • Salary Grade: The pay range for this position is Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496) and Level 4 ($91,008 - $186,588). Compensation decisions at Idaho National Laboratory are based on factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
