Medical Safety Specialist

At the Federal Bureau of Prisons FCC Allenwood, we are seeking a highly skilled Physician to join our team.
The ideal candidate will have a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from a school in the United States or Canada, accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association; Association of American Medical Colleges; Liaison Committee on Medical Education.
Responsibilities will include examining and ordering diagnostic testing, providing necessary treatment and/or medications, and referring inmates requiring hospitalization to a community hospital and to an appropriate admitting physician.
The selected candidate will also be responsible for prescribing medications, treatments, and fully utilizing health services for treatment, rehabilitative, and diagnostic modalities.
Additionally, the Physician will assure proper maintenance of medical records, preparation of reports, and make recommendations on matters of policy, procedures, training, personnel, and equipment as related to specific area of responsibility.
The staff's correctional responsibilities will precede all others required by this position and will be performed on a regular and recurring basis.
Applicants must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
Experience examining and ordering diagnostic testing and providing necessary treatment and/or medications is required.
Experience examining, diagnosing, and treating ambulatory patients and initiating transfer of patients requiring hospitalization is also required.
Experience prescribing medications, treatments, and fully utilizing health services for treatment, rehabilitative, and diagnostic modalities is also required.
Experience providing inpatient and outpatient medical care in all aspects of health care delivery in accordance with current accepted medical practice and procedures is also required.
Experience providing treatment, emergency medical/surgical services as required, treat severe trauma cases, rehabilitative, diagnostic modalities and prescribing medication is also required.
