Responsibilities
  • Obtain patient history and provide education on procedures and treatment options.
  • Position patients appropriately for radiographic procedures and perform scans according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develop and evaluate radiographic results for technical quality and apply learned methodologies with independent judgment.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals to ensure high-quality patient care.
Modality Specific
  • Operate head or body scanners to create computer-generated cross-sectional images of patients' internal organs and tissues.
  • Determine and set technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • Perform obstetric and gynecological scans, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization.
Quality
  • Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment performance.
  • Assure efficient operation of workflow and monitor inventory of supplies and materials.
  • Document incidental findings that might impact patient safety or care and provide information to interpreting physicians.
Education
  • Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidence-based practice and research.
  • Focus on personal development areas and engage in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
  • Participate in ongoing in-service and educational seminars and assist with the orientation and training of new staff.
Qualifications
  • Associates of Applied Science or related field required.
  • MRTBE CT certification required.
  • BLS (American Heart Assoc.) certification required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience as imaging technologist required (3 years experience preferred).
