Responsibilities:
  • Obtain patient history and educate patients/families regarding procedures and/or treatment to be performed as well as risk factors and prevention.
  • Position patients appropriately for radiographic procedures and perform radiographic procedures and analysis according to departmental guidelines.
  • Develop and evaluate radiographic results for technical quality, such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Apply learned methodologies with independent judgment according to established policies and procedures.
  • Maintain infection prevention standards and prepare, clean, adjust, inspect, and maintain equipment.
  • Produce quality images and prepare/present them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation, archiving imaging data as needed or required.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other medical professionals.

Modality Specific:
  • Operate head or body scanners to create a computer-generated cross-sectional image of patient's internal organs and tissues for diagnosis of medical issues.
  • Produce computerized tomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas.
  • Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
  • May perform obstetric and gynecological scans, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, and radiation therapy localization.

Quality:
  • Adhere to regulatory and organizational standards affecting patient care and safety as well as all hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality control measurements, demonstrating ability to troubleshoot and notifying appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • Assure the efficient operation of workflow of the department and monitor and maintain an adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of service.
  • Document any incidental findings that might impact patient safety or patient care and provide that information to the interpreting physician.
  • Exercise responsibility for the maintenance and accuracy of facility reports, database records, and logs.
  • Ensure that the examination results meet the facility standard for Quality Assurance before findings are released for interpretation.
  • Provide oversight for the assessment of examinations performed within the facility for technical and image quality, and accuracy.

Education:
  • Participate in creating and sustaining a learning environment supported by evidenced-based practice and research.
  • Focus on personal development areas, engaging in professional/collegial interactions with peers and students.
  • Work with peers and other healthcare providers. Participate in ongoing in-service and educational seminars.
  • Participate in orienting, assisting, mentoring, and education of colleagues and students.

Compliance/Safety:
  • Stay current and comply with state and federal regulations/statutes and company policies that impact the employees' area of responsibility.
  • Ensure all certifications and/or licenses are up-to-date and valid prior to expiration dates.
  • Complete all company mandatory modules and required job-specific training in the specified time frame.
  • Responsible for reporting any safety-related incident in a timely fashion through the Midas/RDE tool; attend all safety-related training programs; perform work in a safe manner; monitor work environment for possible safety issues and ensure others are also performing work in a safe manner.

Qualifications:
  • Education: Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certificates and Licensure: MRTBE CT certification required.
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year experience as an imaging technologist required (3 years experience preferred).
