Job Summary

Lead and manage the development of policy positions on tax, trade, and corporate accounting issues for the American Petroleum Institute (API). Collaborate with the Vice President of Corporate Policy to advance public policy and support the oil and natural gas industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement tax, trade, and corporate accounting policy positions through consensus decision-making with API member companies.
  • Analyze and assess relevant international initiatives, US federal and state legislation, and regulations that impact the oil and natural gas industry.
  • Coordinate API committee meetings and conferences on tax, trade, and accounting issues.
  • Advocate for the industry and represent API with policymakers, the media, and other stakeholders.
  • Supervise two direct reports and manage a team to develop and implement policy positions.
Requirements
  • 7-10 years of experience in a similar role, with advanced subject matter expertise.
  • 10+ years of experience addressing tax policy issues, with additional years of experience addressing trade and corporate accounting policy issues preferred.
  • 3+ years of management experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant area, or other related field equivalent work experience.
  • Advanced degree such as a JD, Master's, or MBA preferred.
Physical and Travel Requirements
  • Able to remain in a stationary position working on a computer.
  • Able to move about the office to access office equipment, meeting rooms, etc., on occasion.
  • Able to operate a computer and other office machinery.
  • Able to transport items and equipment up to 10 lbs. on occasion.
  • Up to 25% travel required.
