Job Overview

This role involves overseeing child welfare personnel, including child protection specialists based in Hamilton County, who deliver essential family-centered services to children and families in need. Responsibilities include assessing the protective and treatment requirements of children within their family environments, relative placements, and the custody of the Department. The supervisor will also provide legal recommendations to Juvenile Court regarding these children.

Key Responsibilities:

- Administrative duties include recruitment, training, task assignment, performance monitoring, disciplinary actions, and managing grievances.
- Case supervision entails offering consultation, fostering community collaboration, managing after-hours crises, and ensuring compliance with court mandates.
- Address complaints regarding staff or the unit promptly; engage in public relations and community outreach as necessary; maintain accurate records; collect and analyze data as required; ensure adherence to budgetary constraints.
- Travel is a necessary component of this position.

Essential Competencies:

- Provide comprehensive support to the division by managing internal and external inquiries and legislative reviews, requiring independent judgment and adherence to agency communication standards.
- Gather information from diverse sources, interpret data, and utilize software applications effectively.
- Apply management principles to recognize and resolve issues, analyze potential solutions, and implement the most effective strategies.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to present ideas clearly and facilitate discussions.
- Innovate solutions to challenges, creating new methods when standard procedures are inadequate.
- Maintain high ethical standards, demonstrating integrity and honesty in all interactions.
- Ensure regular attendance and punctuality, recognizing the impact of absenteeism on service delivery.
- Coordinate and manage office budgets, ensuring cost-effective support for programs and policies.
- Foster teamwork, encouraging collaboration and a positive work environment.
- Handle high-stress situations calmly and effectively.

Minimum Qualifications:

- A degree from an accredited four-year institution and four years of full-time experience in a social work role; or equivalent professional experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis.
- A Bachelor's degree in social work with three years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in social work with one year of relevant experience.
