Job Responsibilities
The Healthcare Quality Informatics Consultant acts as a key intermediary among the healthcare institution, the implementation team, and the software provider of the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System. This role is pivotal in identifying clinician and patient requirements, assessing and enhancing clinical workflows, and contributing to the development and oversight of the EHR system. The Consultant performs comprehensive evaluations of documentation and patient care, compiling data that can be analyzed and presented in a practical format to advocate for and promote ongoing quality enhancement.
This position also offers leadership and direction to delineate system process requirements pertinent to the institution. The primary objective is to facilitate the adoption and effective utilization of clinical information systems by end-users, thereby supporting clinicians and ultimately enhancing patient care outcomes. This role serves as a central communication hub between end-users, institutional leadership, and the implementation project team regarding requirements, specifications, decisions, and challenges.
Essential Qualifications
An associate or bachelor's degree in clinical or health information technology or equivalent experience in a Human Services field is essential. Experience in auditing healthcare records and proficiency in data manipulation for practical applications are required. Prior experience with Cerner or another EHR system is preferred.
Key skills include:
- Ability to develop a comprehensive understanding of workflows across all departments.
- Capability to generate automated reports and executive-level dashboards.
- Proficiency in prioritizing requests and business needs independently.
- Strong collaborative skills, meeting management, and group facilitation abilities to achieve institutional objectives.
- Capacity to assist in resolving project issues and enhancements as a collaborative partner.
- Ability to multitask effectively.
- Strong team player with experience in cross-functional team environments.
- Advanced skills in software applications such as Excel and Power BI.
- Expertise in clinical auditing using EHR systems.
- Ability to identify trends in data and assess their impact on hospital operations.
Additional Considerations
Experience in a psychiatric healthcare setting is advantageous.
